Summary

The Eban-Rothschild Lab at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, is seeking a motivated Research Technician. Utilizing advanced methodologies like electrophysiological recordings, optogenetics, chemogenetics, and calcium imaging in freely behaving and sleeping mice, our lab investigates the neuronal underpinnings of sleep initiation, memory consolidation, sensory processing during sleep, and huddling behavior. The successful candidate will oversee routine laboratory operations, collaborate with lab members and the Principal Investigator on various projects, and pursue independent research.F/

Responsibilities*

  • Conducting mouse husbandry and animal care.
  • Engaging in research activities, which may include tissue slicing/imaging, behavioral experiments, stereotaxic viral injections, EEG/EMG implantation, lens/fiber optic implantation, neurophysiological recordings, optogenetic/chemogenetic interventions, and in vivo calcium imaging.
  • Training new lab members, maintaining experimental systems, and supporting various research project aspects.

Required Qualifications*

  • Associate degree in Biology, Neuroscience, Biopsychology, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • 1 to 2 years of relevant laboratory experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills. The candidate must be detailed-oriented.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to work with animals.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Neuroscience, Biopsychology, Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Experience in stereotaxic surgery in rodents.
  • Experience in mouse behavioral testing

Additional Information

The salary range is $33,000 - $37,000. Please note a higher salary may be offered based on equity and the selected candidate's experience.

This is a 12-month term-limited position with the possibility of renewal. The anticipated start date is negotiable.
